Detoxification (cleansing)

It is widely known that fruits play an important role in the detoxification of our bodies. In today’s world, we are exposed to more toxins than ever before. This is as a result of the environmental poisons such as car and factory fumes, fertilizer and pesticides resides in mass-produced foods and other chemicals that are present in body lotions, moisturized perfumes. Fruits are very strong cleansing food, capable of storing up and removing toxins that were long buried in the body. Its nutritive value is an excellent solution to fight against on organic toxicity by eliminating acidic chemicals in the body, and redressing the alkaline state of the body. People who eat lots of fruits usually remove all the fat excretion, dead cells, and other unhealthy elements from their bodies. Eating raw fruits and drinking natural fruit juice are one of the most effective methods for detoxification.

Immune System Boost

Your immune system is your most precious asset and deserves special attention. It is the only protection against nasty invaders such as viruses and bacteria that are out there waiting for a chance to invade your body and make you sick. If your immune system is weakened for any reason, your resistance will be lowered and you will be more likely prone to infection/diseases. Our immune systems are being challenged more than ever. The modern lifestyle is let me say, not very healthy. We have some of the poorest eating habits in Nigeria, we are stressed out, and our environment pollution is growing on a daily basis. It is no wonder we are seeing more and more allergies, recurrent colds and flu, chronic fatigue and environmental sensitivity. Be it under-active or overactive, the immune system dysfunction is on the rise. The immune system is weak at various time in our life (such as infancy and old age), and is affected by poor nutrition. That is why fruits and vegetables are important to support the immune system. Regularly eating fresh fruits and vegetables is the natural way to boosting your immune system. Fruits and vegetables are indeed nature’s way of keeping you healthy. They are the only natural foods that are high in vitamin A, C, E, B6, zinc and folic acid that are beneficial in supporting the immune system. It is much more fun to eat your way to health than to take pills or supplements

Antioxidant

In the natural processes of the body, free radicals are produced. A free radical is a molecule or atom that has at least one unpaired electron in its outer shell. Atoms do not like this and want to be stable with all of their electrons paired. When they lack electron, atoms behave differently than they otherwise would. Oxygen, for example, often loses an electron in the normal processes of metabolism. When this happens, the oxygen free radical goes around the body searching for an electron that it can steal. As you can see, this process goes on and on until it finds a way to stop it. Imagine what would happen if the stolen electrons came from vital proteins, vitamins or DNA. This could cause these substances not to function properly and could cause cell damage and cell death, which could lead to cardiovascular disease, or even lead to some types of cancer. We can fight the radicals by doing something as simple as eating enough fruits and vegetables. Fruits contain hundreds of phytochemicals, or plant chemicals that can protect against diseases and promote good health. Some of these phytochemicals are known as antioxidants because they fight against free radicals (oxidants). Antioxidants do this by donating an electron to the free radical so that it can become stable again. Fruits and vegetables are the only defense mechanism with adequate amounts of natural antioxidants our body needs.

Weight Loss

Everybody wants a weight loss plan that lets them eat as much as they want while satisfying hunger and reducing calorie intake. The trick is to choose foods with a lower energy density, or fewer calories per gram weight of the food. The more water and fibre in a food, the lower its energy density, and the more it helps you stay full while you reduce your calorie intake and lose weight. One of the best ways to fill (or supplement) foods with low energy density is to eat more fruits. But not just any fruit will do. The best choice is fresh, whole fruit for the least amount of calories and the highest amount of fullness and satisfaction. The top for weight loss include grapefruit and all green leafy vegetable, Africa Mango and cucumber leading the group. Others are melons (watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew), berries (strawberries, raspberries and blueberries) and peaches.
