Foods for vaginal prolapse – this list of foods will help your pelvic organs regain their muscle strength while you are undergoing medical treatment.and will help you get better after undergoing a surgery.

Vaginal prolapse occurs when the vagina falls from its normal location inside the pelvis toward the opening of the vagina. The vagina stretches or expands to protrude on other organs and structures. Vaginal prolapse often involves just the vagina. Other pelvic organs which include the uterus, rectum, bladder, urethra, and small bowel, can also fall out of place. This condition is generally referred to as pelvic organ prolapse. Without medical treatment or surgery, these structures may eventually prolapse farther and farther into the vagina or even through the vaginal opening if their supports weaken enough. The symptoms that occur during vaginal prolapse commonly affect sexual function as well as bodily functions such as urination and defecation.

Types of vaginal prolapse

  • Vaginal vault prolapse: this may occur following a surgical removal of the uterus (hysterectomy). In vaginal vault prolapse, the top of the vagina gradually falls toward the vaginal opening and this may cause the wall of the vagina to weaken as well. This condition is often accompanied by an enterocele.
  • Prolapsed rectum (rectocele): this type of vaginal prolapse involves a prolapse of the back wall of the vagina (rectovaginal fascia). When this wall thickens, the rectal wall pushes against the vaginal wall, creating a bulge. This bulge may become noticeable during bowel movements.
  • Prolapsed bladder (cystocele): this occurs when the front wall of the vagina (pubocervical fascia) prolapses. As a result, the bladder may prolapse into the vagina. When this occurs, the urethra prolapses as well, which is also called urethrocele. When the bladder and urethra prolapse, it is known as cystourethrocele.
  • Prolapse of the uterus (womb): this involves a weakening of a group of ligaments called the uterosacral ligaments at the top of the vagina. This causes the uterus to fall, which causes both the front and back walls of the vagina to weaken.
  • Herniated small bowel (enterocele): this is caused by the weakening of the upper vaginal supports. This primarily occurs following a hysterectomy. This results when the front and back walls of the vagina separate allowing the intestines to push against the vaginal skin.
